Tracking Internet Ad Sales at NBC Universal TV Stations
NBC Universal Television stations tracked Internet and other non-TV advertising sales with a manual process using Excel spreadsheets, reports and other documents. This made summarization, reporting and tracking of this growing advertising segment difficult.
NBC Universal executives recognized a clear opportunity to improve the efficiency of this process and increase reporting of this important sales category. In addition, a new sales incentive program was rolled out that included compensation to TV station account executives for sales in this segment, therefore necessitating accurate reporting.
What We Delivered
Brady and Associates managed the construction of a web-based sales entry and reporting portal for NBC Universal TV Stations nationwide. The web portal allows account executives to enter client advertising pitches with probability of close and advertising sales by category and station. In addition, the web site allows entry of contacts and events with automated notification of pending events. Management can enter sales targets by category. The national sales system supports extensive reporting capabilities.
Results
NBC Universal television stations now have an automated national sales system for entry, tracking and reporting of Internet and related advertising sales. The system has greatly increased efficiency of collecting sales information and has given sales management greater clarity of market needs, effecting the course of advertising sales direction.
