Christiana Care Flexible Patient Registry Architecture

Christiana Care faced numerous national and state requirements for reporting of medical information. Creating required reports proved to be a tedious and largely manual process, often requiring manual review of handwritten charts and physician notes.

Christiana Care desired a HIPPA-compliant patient registry model for efficient and accurate storage of detailed medical information to meet external and internal reporting requirements.

What We Delivered
Brady and Associates led the development of a cross-department healthcare object model and an associated architecture for construction of patient registries using objects. The architecture and objects were used to construct patient registries for endovascular surgery, neurology, obstetrics and epidural anesthesia procedure tracking. The advanced architecture and reusable set of objects and components supported very fast development of patient registries for any medical area.

Results
Using the registry architecture, Christiana Care was able to launch new patient registries in one week. The registries are currently in use and have been in use for over 6 years, tracking thousands of patient procedures. The impact on the hospital’s ability to track and report on care data has been significant.
